What is Sconex?
Sconex is an online community for high school students. Students post info about themselves, read about classmates, link with friends, share photos, talk about classes and clubs, and more.
What does "Sconex" mean?
"Sconex" is just a unique word that we liked when we were brainstorming for names. The url was available when we launched the site so we took it and the rest is history.
Is Sconex affiliated with my school?
At this time, Sconex has no affiliation with your high school. In the future we may talk with high schools about working together, but right now we are an independent company, building a fun and useful service for high school students.
How does Sconex make sure only high school students access the site?
All people who register for Sconex must answer security questions about their high school to verify they are actually affiliated with the organization. In addition, people who aren't recognized by others in their school can be removed. Although no system is perfect, Sconex feels these mechanisms make it a much safer place for students than most other sites for high school students.
Who can see my information?
You can control who sees your information by adjusting your privacy preferences. The default settings only allow your classmates, friends, and their friends and classmates to see your profile.
How does Sconex make money?
We make money from ads placed throughout the site. Sconex does not sell information about individual members to anyone.
The site says that I can't register with my email address, what does this mean?
This usually means that an account has already been registered with that specific email address. If you think this is a mistake, send us an email.
What if I forget my password?
Click on the "Forgot your password?" link on the Sconex homepage to get to the "Forgot Password" page. Enter your account email address, click "Get Password," and you will be sent an email containing a link. The link will take you to a page where you can create a new password for your account and get back into Sconex.
I tried that and I never received an email?
Sometimes email programs block email from addresses they don’t recognize. Make sure you can receive emails from
. Also, some mail programs may incorrectly move the password email into the spam folder - you might want to check in there as well.
How do I change my password?
To change your password, login and click on the "My Account" link next to the sconex logo. Select "Change Password" and follow the instructions. As with all passwords, it's best to use something that is easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to figure out.
How do I change my email address?
To edit your email address, login and click on the "My Account" link next to the sconex logo. Select "Update Email Address" and follow the instructions. Once you change your email address, this will now be your new login as well.
How do I change my name?
To update your name, use the "Basic Info" link located in the "Profile" tab at the top of the page. Although nicknames and abbreviations are ok, it is best to use a name that allows your friends and classmates to recognize you and search for you.
How do I remove friends?
If you'd like to remove a friend from your list, go to their profile, and click on the "Remove Friend" link, under their name at the top of the page. Once you remove a friend from your list, you are automatically removed from their list as well.
Can I invite people to Sconex who don't go to my school?
You can invite people to Sconex who don’t go to your school in the same way you can invite people at your own school. To invite friends, click on the “Friends” tab, and select the option you wish to use to invite friends.
How do I remove a crush?
If you'd like to remove an existing crush, go to the person's profile that you'd like to remove, and click on the "Remove from Crushes" link at the top of their profile page, right beneath their name.
How do I cancel my account?
You can deactivate your account at anytime by going to
your deactivation page.

I'm switching high schools. Can I change my school without losing the stuff in my profile?
Right now there's no easy way to switch schools on Sconex, but it's a feature we're
developing. In the meantime, please contact us
with your new info. When the feature is ready, we'll take care of the
switch and make sure you keep everything in your current profile.
